Co-sleeping

Co-sleeping means sleeping together with your child. Co-sleeping can be very nice, especially if you also breastfeed at night. Or if your child really needs your presence. Of course it is paramount that co-sleeping is done safely.

A nice rhythm

After spending all that time in your belly, your baby will suddenly end up in an all-new environment. And suddenly he will have to deal with day and night, light and dark. It’s not possible for him to have the perfect rhythm from day 1. This has to ‘grow’. You help your baby a lot by offering him rest and predictability.

Sleep and security

Your baby has been in your belly for months. Everything was familiar and warm there. After the birth, your child will end up in this very big world. He’s still very open then, and takes everything in. He can’t protect himself from cold, drafts and all of those impressions yet. As a parent you play a very important part. Because for healthy growth and development, your baby needs rest and security. He relies on you, his parents, completely for this. Organize the life of your baby, keep him warm and offer him restriction if necessary.

Summer swaddling with Puckababy®

How do you safely swaddle your child during the summer months? A baby who has his arms tightly swaddled will keep himself many times warmer than usual. This can cause some worry, as it should!

The first weeks

During your pregnancy, your baby spends most of the time in your belly sleeping. After the birth he will also be sleeping a lot. This is why your child doesn’t really know anything about a day or night rhythm. Just like your child himself, this has to grow. After a few weeks, your baby will slowly start developing his own sleep cycle, be awake more and more often during the day, and sleep more deeply at night.

Baby sleep signals

After the birth, your child will be completely dependent on you. He will continuously give you signals, including sleep signals. Your baby will let you know when it’s been enough; he wants rest and a good sleep. There are early and late sleep signals. Put your child to bed after the very first sleep signals you pick up, even if he still seems very awake!

Sleeping through the night

Sleep and sleeping through the night are themes that are on parents’ minds a lot. Every parent hopes their baby will sleep well. Because it is good for the baby, but also for them. `Is your baby sleeping through the night yet?’ is a question you are asked constantly as a parent. When this is not the case, it can make you feel a little insecure. You’re also feeling tired yourself, and you are probably longing for the long nights of before.

Swaddling

What is swaddling?

Swaddling has been done in all ages and all cultures. It’s when the baby is wrapped tightly in cloths. Swaddling stops the baby from making uncontrolled movements. This will allow the little body to rest. Swaddling has been ‘out of style’ for years. But by now it has been entirely ‘reborn’, out of necessity. Because the babies’ sleeping and drinking patterns became more and more irregular. Through swaddling, babies found rest and rhythm again. Swaddling is literally meant to restrict the baby. To restrict restless movements, that make it hard for him to relax and sleep for a longer time. These days, there are different kinds of swaddling; traditional and tight, but also modern and more airy!!!

Swaddling with Puckababy®

Every parent knows how important sleep is for the development of their child. And they also know how good it is to get enough rest for themselves amidst all the commotion. But as soon as the baby is born, it turns out that this is difficult for many. Swaddling a baby is an old tradition that can go a long way towards giving your child a peaceful sleep. But the tight swaddling is quite a step for many parents. Puckababy also found it a scary thought. And it was for this reason that the Piep and the Mini were born back in the day. From the belief that there should be another way. Puckababy wants to help all of those restless sleepers, by offering restriction and extra security. But in a milder way, so that every parent dares to use it. Sleeping a Puckababy is substantially different from swaddling. Itís not as tight, itís lighter, and the results are amazing.†The Puckababy proves that swaddling no longer has to leave parents feeling all tangled up.

Why a Puckababy®?

Swaddling is back in style. Partly because of the Puckababy, which conquered the market in no time with the help of spontaneous advertising by relieved parents. Sleeping in a Puckababy is a world away from regular swaddling, and is also presented as an alternative for the tight swaddling. Still it is known popularly by the same name. Unfortunately, there is no certification for swaddling products. After the success of the Puckababy a lot of different swaddling products have hit the market. Usually tighter and cheaply executed. Price is put before safety in those cases. The Puckababy excels in many ways, when it comes to safety and ease of use. And that is why it was presented with the Baby Innovation Award.†Read here how ingenious the patented Puckababy swaddling sleeping bags are. And what makes the Puckababy the best choice for your child.

Puckababy®: safe swaddling in warm weather

You can also put your child in swaddling when the weather is hot, but do pay attention to the risks that can come from swaddling in those cases. A tight swaddling method and the use of fabrics that are too thick or not breathable enough increase the chance of heat accumulation significantly. Furthermore, a baby with tightly swaddled arms keeps himself much warmer than usual. And if the temperature increases as well, dangerous situations can be the result. These risks do not apply to swaddling with the Puckababy. The extremely low TOG values, tested by TÜV, point out that Puckababy is the most airy way of swaddling. Or rather, the most airy alternative to swaddling, seeing as the Puckababy is significantly different. This makes the Puckababy especially suitable for swaddling when the weather is hot. The Puckababy gives your child the restriction it needs to have a good sleep, also when it’s warm.

Sleeping and protection

Babies can be very sweet and sleepy, or very much awake and restless. Especially with restless babies, it’s advisable to keep a good rhythm. Restless babies are characterised by crying, restless sleeping, waking up quickly and being over-active. During the first few week, colic can also occur. Does your baby also have trouble sleeping? Know that this is very common!

Crying

Crying is normal for babies. From 'day 1',  try to let go of the association with 'sadness'. Crying is the only way for babies to communicate, itís the only language they speak. Try to look at your baby carefully. What is going on around the baby at the moment? Has he been fed and was his diaper changed recently? Has it all been too much? Could it be time for a nap? Try to work with a process of elimination.
